For anyone considering adopting from Kenmare Animal Rescue, our experience may help. We had spent time looking for a companion for Loki, whose start in life had been awful- multiple failed adoptions and the psychic wounds that go with them. He is now, honoured to say, at the heart of our home and whilst still growing and learning he is healing too.
We came to know of Kenmare through one of the volunteers who lives locally to us in South Yorkshire. A long telephone call with Jill later, a thorough home check and some fences later, we were off to meet Niamh after her journey across the sea. All those we dealt with at the rescue were knowledgeable, approachable and verging on heroic in their dedication to ensuring the animals in their care find homes where they will be cherished, understood and allowed to be their furry selves.

Jill Moffat and Kenmare Animal Rescue are absolutely outstanding! I’ve just adopted a lovely little collie pup and from the first phone call to finally picking up my puppy 2 months later I have been updated and sent lots of photos and videos along the way. I couldn’t have wished for a better fosterer in Jill, who knowing we have hopes of Gin working cattle, took the time to introduce her and her sisters to a range of livestock. With the help and support of KARA I was able to give Timmy a new home. Arriving a few weeks ago, very nervous, Timmy has come on in leaps and bounds, literally ! He is walking/ running with me on and off the lead, he is playing, he is chewing my trainers, he is house trained and most importantly, he is… Happy.
